New Cut Copy Album to be released in January

In a recent interview with Pitchfork, Cut Copy announced that they will be releasing a new album in January. The band plans to debut some of their new songs when they hit some festivals this summer, such as Lollapalooza. The band’s LP, In Ghost Colours, was my favourite album of 2008, so I can’t wait to hear the next one!

[movie trailer] Sofia Coppola’ s “Somewhere”

I have been looking forward to this film for quite a while now. Sofie Coppola is a legend in my books. Focus Features has just released the first movie trailer for her film, Somewhere, starring Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning. “Somewhere” is an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles. The synopsis of the film is as follows: Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter (Elle Fanning), Johnny is forced to look at the questions we must all confront.
Do yourselves a favour and watch the trailer below. Note the Phoenix and Julian Casablancas songs. I have a feeling the rest of the soundtrack will be amazing.
The Wild Moccasins “Skin Collision Past”

The Wild Moccasins are young, fun, and full of high-energy dance-pop. Check out their single “Skin Collision Past.”
Department of Eagles “While We’re Young”

Department of Eagles are releasing a compilation which will feature songs recorded years before they released “In Ear Park” in 2008. In May, they announced the release of “Archives 2003-2006,” along with the song “Brightest Minds.” Now, another song from the collection has leaked. Check out “While We’re Young” below.
Tennis “Marathon”

Tennis is a husband and wife duo from Denver. “Marathon” is a bright and swooning pop gem. Keep an eye out for an upcoming 7″ release on Underwater Peoples, but in the meantime, grab the band’s debut 7″ single, out in July on Woodsman‘s label, Firetalk.
Foster The People “Pumped Up Kicks”

Check out “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People. It’s catchy as hell, and is officially my summer track of 2010.
Lille [must listen]

Lille is the stage name of 18 year old singer/songwriter Grace Bellury, who hails from Atlanta. She is set to release her first record, Tall Shoulders, on June 22, via Whale Heart Records. As the story goes, Lille took up the mandolin after her first heartbreak, and the ukulele after her second, finding strange beauty in the melancholy nature of brokenness. Lille has a hauntingly beautiful voice that is sure to send chills down your spine. Do yourselves a favour and give her a listen. She is a young and talented songstress that I am sure we will be hearing more of in the near future!
